Metal Electroscope

This is a device used in quantitative electrostatic studies that allows the student to measure electric charges. It is also enormously useful in studies of insulators and conductors and the photoelectric effect. This electroscope consists of a durable cylindrical metal body used to shield a very light metallized armature. By inducing a charge on the zinc charging plate, the armature will be deflected by an amount proportional to the induced charge. The face of the electroscope is scaled in 10 degree increments in two quadrants.
